An initiative of Johan Rycken and conductor Herman Engels, founded in 2008. In it’s short existence it has claimed a clear niche for itself: the surprising and often daring programming.

This is not only in the choice of repertoire, but also in the presentation of the orchestra: sometimes as a large romantic symphony orchestra, sometimes as a small and agile chamber orchestra, sometimes just strings.

In this period since 2008, this particular way of performing concerts has already produced a number of premieres, collaborations with numerous soloists, large projects with choirs and even a theater production!

Herman Engels has since passed the baton to Pascale van Os. But he remains the artistic director of the ensemble.
